The Lords made my dreams come full circle…
This season of my life constantly keeps me in awe and wonder of how good the God I serve is. He loves me a lot. He knows my heart’s desire.
When I first went to Haiti, I immediately fell in love. Parts of my heart still linger in that country. But, overall my heart is missions. My heart is to love others the way Jesus did. I fell in love with Mission of Hope and the way they did sustainable missions.
My dream was to go back and intern for Mission of Hope. Spending a summer around the culture that I love so much, whether it was in the Dominican Republic or Haiti. That was until Abba showed me I’d actually be spending 9 months on the World Race Gap Year. When I was accepted I remember just feeling so thankful that the Father took my 3 month long dream and turned it into 9 months.
Well, He did it again! Making His plans so much better than my dreams. I’m going back to the Domincian Republic!! Wow! Yeah you read that right, my next country on the race is the DR. Even crazier than that, i’m working with Mission of Hope again! I’m going back to the exact spot Abba told me that missions was a desire He had placed on my heart. I get to go back and pursue relationships that have already been established. I get to go and build new relationships. I get to work with the two organizations that I love so deeply, all at once!
Wow! The Lord is so faithful. I keep falling to my knees in amazement. I signed up to be in Cambodia, yet the Lord knew my heart. He knew all along when I signed up for the World Race. How kind is He? He knows every little detail. He is good. He likes to fulfill our hearts desires. He loves to watch His children smile. This season is teaching me more than ever that He has every detail worked out for His good. His timing is perfect. Thank you Father for being so intentional in the way you love me.
Mission of Hope exists to bring life transformation to every man, woman, and child. They partner with local churches to bring life transformation through church advancement, nutrition, education, and medical care. They partner with local pastors to help them accomplish their vision. They empower leaders, and engage in relationships by Christ’s love! I am more than ecstatic to be working with them once again!
Last time I was in the DR we spent our time working with a local pastor. We held kids clubs at His church. We would help serve them food, play games, dance, and teach them bible stories. We helped paint houses of people who attended His church. We got to go around surrounding cities and hear the testimonies of what all the Lord was doing. We got to handout water filters and goats. I even had the honor of being baptized for the first time by the pastor we worked with!
Here’s some photos I got the opportunity of capturing during my last trip:
I’m coming for you DR, and I’ll see you again real soon Mission of Hope.
Love,
Sydney<3
Syd, YES Abba Father knows/hearsyour hearts desires and wants to delight in making you smile. I’m SO happy for you and that you are going to a familiar place where your desire to serve was stirred and ignited. Jesus is has answered so many desires of my heart too lately, in ways as the song says “ He’s a Way maker Miracle Worker, Promise keeper, That is who you are “!!! I love and miss you Sydney and so enjoy seeing and hearing about the many good things God is doing in your Life. So, Go reach DR for his glory and one day we will all go do mission work there as a family! Love and hugs sent your way. Have a BLESSED day! You are amazing.
Love,
Mom
I m so proud of you Sidney. A girl after God’s own heart. You and Craig are evidence that there is still hope to this world. Keep up the good faith. You are such a strong young woman.
This happened to me recently, a little flame burning on the back, way back, burner of my heart and the Lord God brings it front and center again. It’s kind of like the moments in scripture when it says “God remembered” (not like He was going to forget, because He doesn’t), but He remembered. Really Cool!!
